Description

I will discuss some aspects of eta-periodic stable motivic homotopy theory, obtained by inverting the motivic Hopf map eta. I will describe the classifying spaces of certain algebraic groups in this theory, and discuss various notions of orientation of ring spectra. I will in particular introduce the so-called hyperbolic orientations, which are intimately related to Pontryagin classes.
