Description

15th Conference in
Spectral Theory and Mathematical Physics

24–28 June, 2024

The conference is devoted to spectral theory and its applications in modern mathematical physics. There will be talks on the general operator theory, differential, integral and difference operators, scattering theory, inverse problems, periodic and ergodic operators, asymptotic methods and applications, e.g., on the modern quantum physics and nonlinear physics. We also plan to organize talks devoted to interesting general analytic problems.

This year, the conference also honors the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg University, where M.Sh.Birman served as a professor until his death.

Although only invited talks will be presented at the conference, everyone is welcome to attend the conference. The meetings will be held in a hybrid format. Participants can join in-person at the Leonhard Euler International Mathematical Institute (Pesochnaya nab. 10, St. Petersburg, Russia), or via Zoom (register to get the link).

The conference schedule and the book of abstracts are now available: Schedule and Book of Abstracts.

Registration Fee

There is a registration fee of 2000 RUB for all in-person attendees, except for students, PhD students and young researchers, to cover social events. Payment is accepted online through the SPbU website. There is no fee for virtual attendance.

Dmitri Yafaev (2 January 1948 – 16 June 2024) With deep regret we sadly announce the death of our dear friend and colleague, Dima Yafaev, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at the University of Rennes 1 and Professor at SPbU. Professor Yafaev died on June 16 after a long illness. He was among the first students of M.Sh.Birman and became one of his closest collaborators. It is an enormous loss to our scientific family and to the academic community.
