Conference dedicated to the 75-th anniversary of A.A.Suslin

19–20 October, 2026

Important: we kindly ask those who intend to participate in the conference (with or without a talk), to fill out the registration form before October 15.

Andrei Aleksandrovich Suslin is an eminent mathematician having an enduring role in the development of Algebraic K-theory and its applications. In collaboration with V. Voevodsky he created the theory of Motivic cohomology, solved about ten named problems that other distinguished mathematicians had not been able to solve, and founded the St. Petersburg schools of Algebraic K-theory, Algebraic geometry, and Motive theory. He was an invited speaker at three International Mathematical Congresses (1978, 1986, and 1994) and was a plenary speaker at the 1994 Congress.

Talks:

TBA

Grothendieck-Witt Groups of Discrete Valuation Rings

We compute the Grothendieck-Witt groups of discrete valuation rings of mixed characteristic, extending previous results known in the equicharacteristic case. Our approach is based on homological stability for linear groups, which leads to rigidity results for Grothendieck-Witt theory. We explain how the homology of general linear and symplectic groups provides the key input for this rigidity.

Э. (UCSD) Andrei Suslin and modular representation theory

I was most fortunate to collaborate with Andrei Suslin in a series of papers about modular representation theory. Our most important theorem is the result that the  cohomology of a finite group scheme over a field is  finitely generated.  This is the foundation of much of the study of support varities for representations of finite group schemes.  We even devoted a paper to  the (wild) representation theory of the finite group Z/p \times Z/p.  Andrei's remarkable power is fully on display in describing the geometry of support varieties for Frobenius kernels of algebraic groups. This talk will recall that wonderful collaboration and discuss more recent results.
